Welcome to Honors
Academy
Welcome to Honors Academy
online, your official source of information about our
school, our students and our community. Honors Academy is an
open enrollment charter school in the state of Texas. As a
public school our programs are fully accredited and
recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Honors
Academy provides an innovative self-paced environment
designed to meet the needs of all of today's
students.
Honors Academy continues to
build strong and clear partnerships between parents,
teachers, and students. We value and promote the creativity
of both the child and the teacher. Children may be different
in the manner in which they best learn or in their rate of
progress in the various subject areas. Teachers may also be
different in how they organize and approach the teaching
process. Therefore, parent/school communication is very
important.
School should be an
adventure, but it must be comfortable for children; they
must feel encouraged to continue to make strong efforts and
to try new skills. Finding the balance for a child is a
delicate process that is most successful when the teacher
and the parent are working closely together. Honors Academy
is dedicated to assisting all students to develop their
talents fully and to fostering a desire for life-long
learning, by providing a safe and positive learning
environment that respects the diversity of our
population.
It is our hope to be of
great value to you in your quest for choices in education.
To get a better sense of our school and achievements, we
invite you to explore our web site and visit us
often.
Sincerely,
Troy D. Meeks

About Honors
Academy
Top
Honors Academy is an innovative self-paced learning
environment designed to meet the needs of today's students.
Using the best in technology-based learning systems, Honors
Academy's unique curriculum integrates technology, projects,
state-adopted text and traditional instructor lead methods
to facilitate students functioning to their highest
potential. This allows students, on an individual,
subject-by-subject basis, to maximize their learning effort.
Students progress at a more rapid rate in areas of personal
strength and move more slowly in areas of individual
challenge, allowing for thorough comprehension. This method
of education is excellent for serving a diverse population
of students.
Honors Academy's mission is
to server exceptional learners at both ends of the spectrum,
with a special heart for those students considered
"at-risk." By partnering with local colleges and
universities, accelerated students earn both high school and
college credit simultaneously. Other programs focus on
students whose educational career may have been hindered by
life circumstances to get them back on track and
successfully complete their high school career and prepare
them for post secondary education or a solid
career.
