Honors Academy at Honors Academy Dallas is an open enrollment public charter school in the state of Texas. The program is fully accredited and is recognized by the Texas Education Agency.
Campus Description The Honors Academy Dallas is located at Interstate 20 and Camp Wisdom Road, making travel time from anywhere in the Metroplex a pleasant experience.
Campus Mission Statement The mission of Honors Academy at Honors Academy Dallas is to help students in grades 8 &endash; 12 develop skills that they will frequently use in their adult lives. By increasing their ability to read, write, and speak with clarity and precision, the students receive a "leg up" in the working world. Honors Academy also empowers students to become confident, self-motivated problem solvers by providing individualized learning in a collaborative student-centered environment.
Students Served The Honors Academy at Honors Academy Dallas offers a complete high school program for students that have found themselves behind in their grade or skill level and who are at risk of dropping out of school. Honors Dallas also serves students that have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and students whom simply need extra attention.
Education Program Description The Honors Academy at Honors Academy Dallas students are encouraged daily by teachers who fully devote themselves to each student's needs, both academically and personally. Such personalized attention not only increases student self-esteem, but also develops invaluable student-teacher relationships. Academically, the school demands high standards, with the help of critically acclaimed and nationally recognized curriculum components. Most of the required course work uses advanced educational software programs.
Courses offered at Honors Academy Dallas are similar to those that are customarily provided in traditional public schools, including all core subjects and various electives. Honors Academy Dallas offers a more flexible schedule than those provided at traditional public schools, where four (4) hour sessions with formal instruction are provided in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Enhanced Educational Programs Many students that attend Honors Academy Dallas have personal situations (i.e. teen pregnancies, drug use, family issues, and probation). Mentoring and faith-based programs could be added to address these issues, thereby fulfilling the needs of the whole student.
