Honors Academy at Destiny High School is a public charter school in the state of Texas. The program is fully accredited and is a recognized state enrollment school.
Mission Statement The mission of Honors Academy at Destiny High School is to equip all 8 &endash; 12 grade students with the literacy skills necessary in the 21st century. These skills include the ability to read, write, speak, and use information with clarity and precision, as well as the ability to participate responsibly in the world of work and life. Our goal is to work with both at risk students and students that desire an accelerated program. We want each student to know that at Destiny High School everyone has a future. Consistent with the vision to seek and partner with community organization, Honors Academy and Destiny World Outreach Center have joined forces to impact today's teen culture. As a faith-based organization focused exclusively on the support of today's teens, Destiny World Outreach Center's impact on drug and gang activity is significant. By partnering with Honors Academy to create Destiny High School, these two organizations have increased the ability to serve this population.
Educational Program Description The Honors Academy at Destiny High School helps students realize their full potential by creating challenging, supportive, and individualized plans while demanding high standards of achievement using accredited and recognized curriculum. Destiny provides a self-paced curriculum with most of the course work being completed using the latest and best in educational computer software programs. The curriculum includes a full range of courses customarily provided in traditional public schools, including all core subjects and a variety of popular electives. The flexible schedule allows students to attend classes in a non-traditional setting. Formal class instruction is divided into morning and afternoon shifts, capitalizing on the ability to serve a maximum number of students.
Students Served The Honors Academy at Destiny High School serves students in grades 8 - 12.
Educational Program Enhancement The Honors Academy at Destiny High School offers credit for extra-curricular activities including drama presentations, learning a full range of production skills on and off stage. Included in this area would be theater and different aspects of video technology. Also offered are opportunities to be on a dance/step team and involvement in the community.
