Honors Academy at Meridell Achievement Center is an open enrollment public charter school in the state of Texas. The program is fully accredited and is recognized by the Texas Education Agency.
Campus Description Meridell Achievement Center is situated in Liberty Hill, 31 miles north of Austin on highway 29. The campus sits on spacious surroundings and acreage providing an ideal setting for residential students.
Campus Mission Statement The mission of Honors Academy at Meridell Achievement Center is to provide a student-centered environment for children in kindergarten through the sixth (6th) grade by combining superb academic programs with strong student-teacher relationships. The abilities to communicate clearly and effectively, both using speech and written word, are skills upon which instructors heavily concentrate. Through the education at Honors Academy Meridell, students can become confident and self-motivated, prepared to take on challenges that the world presents. Upon leaving Meridell, students will be fully equipped with academic and social skills that will take them further in their education.
Students Served The Honors Academy at Meridell offers a complete elementary school program in an individualized setting for at-risk students. Meridell serves children who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, are emotionally disturbed, show signs of behavioral problems, and those who have found themselves behind in their grade or skill level.
Education Program Description The Honors Academy at Meridell Achievement Center educates up to 30 at-risk youth that spend their weekdays at Meridell, which by definition is a child and adolescent treatment center. Honors Academy demands the highest standards of excellence by using challenging accredited curriculum. Courses are self-paced, which allows each student to learn and advance when he or she feels fully prepared. Additionally, most work is completed using the latest in educational computer technology. By far the greatest asset of the school is the personal attention that each child receives from his or her teacher. Honors Academy instructors are trained to oversee each student's academic, emotional, and vocational needs. Courses offered at Honors Academy Meridell are similar to those that are customarily provided in traditional public schools. The course work includes all core subjects and popular electives. In addition, the flexible scheduling system allows for a non-traditional class setting, which positively impacts students' attitudes toward the learning process.
Enhanced Educational Programs Honors Academy Meridell continues to develop curriculum and education methods which coordinate with and enhance the care students receive from the Meridell Achievement Center. |
