Honors Academy at Millwood Academy is a public charter school in the state of Texas. The school is fully accredited and meets the standards and requirements set out in the public laws that govern special education.

 

Campus Description

Honors Academy at Millwood is situated adjacent to Millwood Hospital. Millwood Academy is centrally located at Interstate 30 and Cooper Street in Arlington, Texas, just minutes from downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth.

 

Campus Mission Statement

The mission of Honors Academy at Millwood is to address the emotional and academic needs of each student on a personal level. The program is designed to create an environment where students are motivated to take an active role in their own learning process so that they will be equipped to meet all educational criteria and goals. The curriculum provided at Millwood Academy is designed to encourage and enable students to express their thoughts, ideas and emotions so that learning becomes meaningful for them.

 

Students Served

The Honors Academy at Millwood Academy serves at-risk students in grades K - 12, many of whom are clients of Millwood Hospital.

 

Education Program Description

The Honors Academy at Millwood offers courses similar to those that are customarily provided in traditional public schools, including all core subjects and various electives. Millwood offers a more flexible schedule than those provided in traditional public schools, where four (4) hour sessions are provided for classroom instruction.

 

Enhanced Educational Programs

At The Honors Academy at Millwood students are encouraged daily by teachers who have fully devoted themselves to each students academic and personal needs. Such personalized attention not only increases student self-esteem, but also develops invaluable student-teacher relationships. Millwood Academy prepares students to take the "next step" on their personal and academic journey, while minimizing the sense of lost time.
